3/3/12 Street Candids: The background story

The pictures in my previous post definitely deserves an explanation, but I was neck-deep in synopses and homework, so here it comes, albeit slightly late. Such is the life of a student.

The pictures in my previous post were taken a week ago when Andrew and I were out on our usual daily walk. We were on our way home, but the weather was so beautiful that we decided to sit down on a bench by the lake close to my apartment and enjoy the weather.

After sitting for a bit we noticed this newly-wedded couple posing for their wedding pictures, and I got so excited that I snapped a couple of pictures of them (from AFAR, Andrew, no reason to be mortified), because you never expect to see something like that in my ‘hood. I mean, this whole thing was pretty unconventional. It was in the middle of the city, cars and busses and people, and in the middle of this chaos and loud noises this serene moment was taking place between two people, who were just over the moon with joy. It was like they were in a world of their own and all the rest of us didn’t exist.

Little by little other people started to notice it too, yelling congratulations, and I wasn’t the only one to photograph it. Still, they managed to stay in their own world, not sensing any of the disruptions. It was just beautiful, and special, and it made that Saturday just a little bit brighter.
